BBC TV Sees Religion As 'Tiresome Obligation'

Religious coverage is seen as a "rather tiresome obligation" by "secular and sceptical" BBC television staff, a Radio 4 broadcaster has said.
Roger Bolton called for the appointment of a BBC religion editor to improve coverage of faith matters.
Rev. David Lawrence, East Ham
“POPE IDOL” would be interesting. The next time a pope dies ITV could help choose a new one for the Vatican? Now an all juggling, singing and dancing pope would be amazing to watch!

Alan Maher, Blackburn
I was turned off from watching religious programmes when Nun’s stopped looking sexy on television.
Charlie Drake, Stevenage:
Perhaps a Jeremy Kyle type programme would be the answer? Although I am not sure titles like Bell Ringers Keep Me Up All Night and Choir Boys: I cannot get enough of them may be right for the terrestrial television.

A Woman Entrepreneur Receives Full Backing On Dragons Den

A young entrepreneur Claire Balding today became the fastest ever woman to receive £100.000 backing from the Dragons Den panel. Claire was shocked when her innovative seat belt safety device was backed so quickly. She was quoted as saying " i just cannot believe i got backing that quick. All the male dragons offered me the money in seconds although i am still surprised Deborah Meaden thought it was a stupid idea".

Nazi Gnomes Storm Dragons Den

The BBC has received a number of complaints after 2 of the Dragons Den panel invested £50.000 for a 25% share of a company which makes Nazi gnomes. The gnomes which are made by a firm in London stand at 2ft tall and shout "Hi Hitler" when a person walks past them. A spokesman for the BBC said " we have a number of complaints about the investment in the nazi gnomes but at the end of the day it is the Dragons money and it up to them where they invest it"

Tanning Drug Use On The Rise

A growing number of people in the UK are injecting themselves with an unlicensed tanning drug, a BBC investigation has found.

Melanotan is still undergoing clinical trials but is sold illegally online and in salons and gyms, Newsbeat reports.

It is a synthetic hormone which stimulates the body's production of melanin, a substance that gives the skin its colour. Experts are worried that the long-term effects are not yet known.

A regular user of the tanning injections, Gail Porter from Pimlico stated, "I don't know what all the fuss is all about I get looks off lots of people in the street every day. I know for a fact they wish they too could acquire a tan such as mine!"

Readers Letters

I was in my works toilets recently and sign said “please depress for a 3 seconds to ensure a full flush.” so I told the toilet about my marriage problems and do you know what it worked? Thank God for British signage.

Mr Walter Cross, Essex

I find it very upsetting that the BBC’s DIY SOS team are to modernise Osama Bin Ladens cave in an Afghan special to be shown over the Christmas period. Surely tax payer’s money should be put to better use like starting a war in Iran for instance.

Mr G Galloway, Glasgow

With the near collapse of Wall Street in America surely it would have been a good idea to have built the wall on better foundations and with the correct cement?

Mrs D Jones, New York

Is it me or does the fact that Gordon Brown keeps calling his chancellor darling a little off putting?

Mr D Cameron, London

The attempts of some members of parliament to stop parents from giving their children a smack is unbelievable. I was brought up on smack and it hasn’t done me any harm, apart from the prison sentence and the decline in my mental health that is.

BBC's ' Animal Hospital ' in Bear Penis Extention Row

The BBC switchboard was jammed with complaints after airing a programme showing a bear receiving a Penis extension. On last nights live 'Animal Hospital' the cameras showed the 2 hour operation which ended with the bear receiving a 10 inch penis. One angry mother called in and said " i think it is disgusting showing this sort of thing at 7pm at night. As a family we don't want to see giant penis flapping about when we are eating our tea". The BBC gave us this statement " we have received a number of complaints about the program we had no idea the program would end showing the bear with a 10inch erection !. We apologise to all our viewers and Rolf Harris realises it was wrong after the operation to shout. DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS YET ! "

Kaplinsky robbed of her sequins

So Natasha Kaplinsky is to be defrocked in front of the nation oops! Sorry, she has been asked to drop the ball gowns and sequins and wear something a little less formal whilst reading the news for her new bosses at Channel 5. Is nothing sacred you may be asking yourselves?

Miss Kaplinsky who was given a Million pounds a year to move from the BBC to Channel Five by all accounts is finding it hard to adapt to her new dress code. After years of building her reputation as the “most glamorous newsreader in Britain”, her new employers at Five, have asked Spangles, a name given to her by her former BBC colleagues to dress down for news reading.

So look out for her in a two piece swim suite and pearl necklace the next time you tune in to Five News sometime soon. Nothing however, has been confirmed about Miss Kaplinsky’s over use of her make-up. Are we soon to also see just what she looks like under the ready-mix concrete? I doubt that very much.
