Theatre goers were shocked yesterday when they turned up at London’s Royal Court Theatre only to find the cast and crew of the musical “Enron” had disappeared.One theatre goer who had bought two tickets for the show as a birthday gift was shocked to find out the play would not be showing.
“We arrived to find a large queue gathering outside the ticket office. People were complaining to a young ticket sales assistant about the delay in being allowed in to the stalls. The next thing we knew a staff member opened a side door to theatre to bring rubbish out in to the alleyway and the crowd surged forward. As we entered the stage door we were greeted by scenes of chaos inside. There were props strewn on the floor and it was obvious that the scripts had all been shredded. It is terrible that such a big theatre production can do this to its customers.”
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed they are looking into certain irregularities and did confirm that at least fifty bin liners full of shredded material are currently being looked into. The where about of the cast and crew of the production are a deep concern and enquiries are being fully investigated.
The production, which had sold-out its entire six-week run at London's Royal Court, was due to transfer to the Noel Coward Theatre on 16 January 2010. Future productions like “MG Rover” and “Northern Rock” the musicals are now feared to be in doubt due to further financial difficulties.
